BMERF is a registered
Public charitable trust running the College of Biotechnology, which is approved by Government and affiliated with Periyar
University (a state run University).
The Foundation was founded
with a goal to promote research in India and abroad in
various domains
of "Biomedical
engineering", encompassing "Biotechnology", Biomechanical, Biomedical imaging, Biomaterial, Bioelectrical etc., for the development
of public health, medicine and allied areas.
Dr.R.
Saravanan, the Founder and Chairman of the Foundation
is heading the Research
department of Biotechnology of the Institution. Currently the foundation is associated with the
"WHO"
centers for Reference and
Research on
Leptospirosis
at Brisbane,
Australia and Amsterdam, The
Netherlands in identifying and authenticating the
Leptospira
isolated by the foundation in India. The
Chairman is a coworker
of the Program for appropriate technology in health (PATH) Seattle, USA for the
Bill and Melinda Gates Children's Vaccine program. The Pioneering College and Research Institution is
located in Salem, Tamilnadu,
a Southern State of India.
